Starting at a new school with new people and new faces can be overwhelming, but The Standard Four Corners is here to help the transition by providing apartments near University of Connecticut through the affordable housing program. Through the affordable housing program, we are here to help students who receive need-based financial aid, pay for school via student loans, or work while going through school to pay for living expenses independently.

To qualify for affordable housing, applicants generally must have an income that is 80%  or less of the Area Median Income (AMI) for Affordable Housing and 120% for Workforce Housing. Housing Choice Voucher applicants can also find additional general information on the program at HUD’s website.

To qualify, full-time students must be eligible for a LIHTC exemption. Exemptions are: married and entitled to file a joint tax return, single parent with dependent child, receiving TANF assistance, enrolled in a Federally Funded Job Training Program, or previously have been a foster care youth. Documentation for the specific circumstance will be required.

Applicants must provide proof of income through documents such as recent bank statements, pay stubs, and tax returns. This documentation is essential for verifying eligibility for affordable housing units.

Yes, there are designated floor plans for Affordable and Workforce Housing, offering a range of unit types from Studios to 3 Bedrooms.

Affordable Housing units are available for move in starting August 2025. You may select the lease term that best fits your needs: 5 months, 6 months, 7 months, or 12 months. The Standard at Four Corners has a limited number of units dedicated to affordable housing, so we recommend signing a housing contract earlier to help ensure you can save your place.

The cost of affordable housing is based on income limits established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Rents for Affordable Units are set at 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI), while rents for Workforce Units are set at 120% of AMI.

All residents of an affordable housing unit must meet the eligibility requirements for affordable housing.
